About the Author

Michael R. Napier is a former FBI (27 years) Supervisory Special Agent, field office program manager and violent crime assessor in the National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime, where he investigated complex bribery, price-fixing, organized crime, violent crime, labor racketeering, Medicare and medical fraud, and white collar crime cases. He also supervised undercover operations. He is an FBI-qualified Polygraph Examiner and has extensively studied interview and interrogation strategies and tactics and the methodology to deny successful challenges to confessions. He specializes in applying behavioral analysis to violent crimes to assess the potential for preventing violence or deterring specific criminals in individual settings. Those techniques include determining foresee-ability of an individual committing a violent act. He is a nationally-recognized presenter on various topics concerning violent crime assessment, violent offender motivation, interview and interrogation strategies and crisis management subjects. Mr. Napier holds Adjunct Faculty positions at the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University and Wichita State University.

One of the most important "everyman" books that should be read by each and every Christian.The main reason there are so many professing Christians who don't subscribe the the Total Depravity of fallen mankind, is because they have no grasp of the holiness of God. So many seem to think that God is merely a bigger, better version of ourselves. This is not only utterly wrong and backward, it's blasphemous. Granted, I understand that we all grow at different rates, and some of us get really stunted in our growth, possibly forever remaining theological midgets our entire lives. Certain types of denominations seem to inadvertently make that a priority, in not teaching their disciples HOW to think in the first place, and in majoring on the minors and minoring on the majors. They're too busy with having "seeker sensitive" churches that the world won't find offensive, weird, and uncool, that they end up being man-centered rather than Christ-centered, and they eventually lose contact with the Head, becoming a hollow form that appears ... in some very weak fashion ... as pious, but is really dead.One of my favourite points in the book is the account concerning Uzzah, who steadied the ark from falling to the ground, and was instantly struck dead by God. I won't give it away. Read (or listen to) it for yourself and discover why it was justified.

This book by Sproul was definitely worth my time to read. It was quite interesting. I'm not a prolific reader, so finishing this book showed that I enjoyed it. Some chapters I got a fair amount more out of than others. I did read it over several months, so that could have had an impact as far as the reading flow and full enjoyment went.It had thought provoking aspects to it, and also showed more of God's nature of holiness than I considered before reading this book. Some of the aspects of His holiness might kind of shock some readers that are not that familiar with the bible. But, sometimes I think we need to be shocked a bit out of our complacency about God, while still being guided and instructed in a biblical and godly way. This book does that well. I thought the ending of it was a little abrupt, though. I do recommend the book to those wanting to know more about this particular subject, especially if they have done little to consider God's holiness.But, I do want to say it is not nearly as enthralling, well thought out, and organized as Sproul's "Chosen By God", which I would give 5 stars. "Chosen By God" is an excellent book that anyone, who has any interest at all in truly understanding election and predestination, would get so much out of and enjoy. Those topics aren't scary. They are beautiful! Check it out! :-)

R.C. Sproul has written many books. His books are a blessing to me and a great help in my understanding of Scripture. This book, however, brings the holiness of God to the forefront. Without the ability to understand the exceptional holiness of our God, it is difficult to put the rest of His Word into perspective- not man's perspective- God's. Excellent book!

Dr Sproul helped me to understand God more. To not be angry at Him anymore. To get a better grasp of His sovereignty! To see Him in ways I hadnt before. Esp chapters 6 & 7. Though chpts 1-5 are needed to help understand those chapters. Honestly, a few area of the book didnt help me but they might help others. Overall, I LOVED this book. I plan on reading it again to really grasp those concepts.

Sproul proves here once again that he is a gifted writer. He provides Biblical insights into the holiness of God and contrasts them with common perceptions of God today. The only criticism I have of the book is the chapter "The Insanity of Luther." That chapter weakens the overall impact of this title, rambling a bit before concluding. Perhaps the author's fascination with the Reformation motivated him to include it, but regardless, it would have been best if he'd deleted it from his final version. Nonetheless, Sproul offers an excellent treatment of the holiness of God here. I recommend it highly.

Too much of christianity (yes small "c") starts with themselves, or rather the 'human' element to understand 'god' (yes, small "g"). R.C. Sproul unmasks the fallacy of starting there and points to the real starting point: GOD!My favorite take away is: GOD should have/could have, at the rebellion of his creation, smacked HIS hands together and destroyed all HE had created and NOT let it continue in its reckless rebellion against HIS authority and holiness. Not only that, HE allowed, even planned for, the death of HIS SON at the hands of the little rebellious creatures...so that many might be saved!Incredible...

This book is written for Orthodontists, but The principles apply to most any entrepreneur or small business owner. I like how things are broken down into small chunks to give you a little attainable goals to work with. It’s the kind of book that you can have on your desk throughout the year and read a little at a time while you work on making your business and your life better. I have also enjoyed the book on tape, mostly for the flashcards that came with it. Dustin is a brilliant marketer, and effective coach, and has helped me build my business in ways that I know could not have been achieved otherwise. We just moved to St. Louis, so this book is really useful for us. It really delves into a lot of great local shops, activities, etc., more than any of the other guidebooks I've seen.The information is the book is set out in a somewhat eclectic way, which gives the book a kind of neat feel, but unfortunately also makes it much less user friendly. It would be a great help if it had an index and a more detailed table of contents. Many times I've thought, "Oh, where was that Italian grocery again?" and wished I could just flip to the index and look it up. But no, I have to flip page by page through the whole book until I find it. Sometimes it's even hard to find a neighborhood without a detailed table of contents -- now did she put The Hill in withTower Grove Park or together with Dogtown? (I admit, St. Louis' multiple tiny neighborhoods don't make this any easier...). (Didn't Kurt Vonnegut talk about the art of indexing a book in Cat's Cradle? Well, now I finally understand!)Other than that minor but vexing drawback, the book is really great, covers a lot of territory and is a great introduction with handy insider's tips on St. Louis -- just what you need when you are moving to a new place! Very glad I bought the book.

This book is acceptable but not definitive. Its sections are oddly disjointed and I found it tedious to use recently. I had to flip back and forth a lot. It is probably better than other guide books out there; but since I have lived here my whole...long..life, I haven't used it easily.

Odd organization, mostly outdated restauraunts already.

This book is a pretty good read for anyone who wants the lowdown on lesser-known attractions and communities in and around St. Louis. I'd like to have seen more colour photographs in the book, rather than the sometimes uninspiring black and white shots. That said, I'm sure it would have been a more expensive book had it been illustrated in colour.For the money, it's worth a read if you are planning on visiting the area, or even if you are a local resident who has led a sheltered life and not got around much.

This little book is full of fun and interesting places around our area. Too often we go looking for special places far from home when in actuality those special places are right under our noses.thanks to the author fir writing this.

I bought this book in preparation for a four-day family vacation. I found it difficult to use. The neighborhood names may be meaningful for people who live there, but for tourists new to the area, I found it to be confusing. The one map showing all of the neighborhood names was lacking enough detail to allow one to know where you really were. It would have been helpful if there was also a second map (larger scale) showing the smaller area within that was the focus of the book. After much searching in the index for certain attractions that were about 45 minutes outside of downtown St. Louis, I found out that the book didn't extend that far out. There was a small chapter at the end that featured "other attractions" that were further out, but there were only a few and the ones I was interested in were missing.Another disappointment was that the two major attractions we wanted to visit, The City Museum and Six Flags, were barely mentioned at all. The free pamphlets I picked up in our hotel lobby were 10 times more informative than this book for these two major attractions.I usually depend heavily on hard copy guidebooks for trips, but this time I returned the book and used the Trip Advisor app on my phone instead. It was much more useful, and because of it, we even found a great attraction nearby our hotel called Crystal City Underground that ended up being a highlight of our trip.

A big thanks to Amanda and Kerri for writing this book. Growing up, I spent a good amount of time with my grandparents who owned an estate on the 5100 block of South Broadway. When I decided on St. Louis as the setting for my romantic suspense I found things had changed so much since I was last there that I needed a good resource to catch up. Their Guidebook to St. Louis, By and For St. Louisans, is perfect. I can now research online the names and places mentioned in the book. The only thing lacking is an index, other wise it's perfect. This diet guide saved my life. I literally was so ill I couldn't move off my bed. I lost 40 lbs in 3 months and gained a true sense of well being. I suggest this to anyone struggling with yeast infections or infections of any kind.

I can’t say whether the diet works. I assume it does. But I found this book an infuriating read. Cutesy reminders to chew with our mouths closed if we opt for gum? Really?She references several times addressing coffee in chapter 11. I read from cover to cover and still have no clue why caffeine is a problem for candida. She’s so thorough with so many other things, seems like a huge oversight.Overall it just seems unrealistic. One of the recommended meals is yogurt topped with cranberries. I’ve never seen unsweetened cranberries for sale. And she talks so chipperly about how easy it all is. I understand wanting to be encouraging, but..well I tried being just gluten free and vegetarian for 4 months and felt like I was starting to get an eating disorder, not to mention near tears with frustration at times. Having a social life/working/traveling is not conducive to what it takes to keep on this diet plan. The idea of starting not during holidays etc is great, but that means I never start this diet based on my life structure.Books that spend 60% of the first “selling” it is never something I’ve been fond of but I appreciate some of her thoroughness. But then was disappointed by the lack of explanation of things like coffee, and then she ends with the chipper reinforcement of a vignette of ‘yay I lost weight and my boyfriend proposed!’ Umm let’s not tie too many unrelated things together. And ‘why would you possibly want to eat normal again?’ Left me with such a sense the author doesn’t live in my reality, I feel less inclined to trust the rest. I’d much rather a sense of “yea, it’s hard..and worth it”.Oh and all the charts/menus totally didn’t display right on my mobile.I guess if a nutritionist ever comes out with prepackaged 21 day vegetarian candida meals, maybe I could try this diet. Until then, I’m entirely discouraged. I will try to make changes, and keep on with the supplements (she never explains why that should WAIT!! until phase 2, either).

Well worth the price. I've used it in my work with great success.

I recommend this book. It has good information and was very helpful to me. I'm glad I found this book.

Unfairly probably; I tend to overlook the 'dummies' series when searching for business topics because, well, 'I'm no dummy". But I desperately needed a crash course on conflict resolution and didn't have a lot of time to review a whole bunch of books; so bought the Kindle version for reading on a recent trip to prepare for a CR session I had to lead when I returned. I found it well written, highly practical and full of concrete action steps that I did my best to implement. It's a book I intend to revisit quite a bit as I work to be a better manager to my employees at work.

I have already used this book to resolve interpersonal relationship problems on the workplace and have heavily post-noted important places I want to refer to again and again. The principles are very sound and may be applied to many other kinds of conflicts besides the ones you find at the workplace. It's fun to read, too.
