My kids are very into the United Kingdom (home of Harry Potter, the Beatles, Sherlock, and Dr. Who) and we're thrilled when I got this activity book as part of a promo. It is so fun and informative! It is a full color booklet with beautiful editing and graphics. The activities are VERY engaging with word searches, fun facts, and travel tips. I would have adored having a book like this when I was traveling as a child. I came across this kids travel guide of the United Kingdom. First, this is comprehensive of the United Kingdom so it covers the major cities, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and information related to these areas. It covers maps, customs, language, food, money, brief histories. It has a quiz at the end. It covers in a broad sense, all the main information for a child to know when visiting or learning about this geographical area. It is colorful and easy to read and has activities on almost every page which will engage the learner. It is really for some one who is going to be visiting the U.K. It has tips on what to pack for your trip. A little check list of what not to forgot to take with you. We are not going there any time soon, but it has inspired her to google things about the U.K. that she did not know. This is a great learning experience for her. I would recommend this book whether you are going to to visiting there or not. It would give the kids something to think about and help them to learn. It is very well made. I like how the front and back covers are made of durable cardboard. This book will be around for a long time. There is bit of everything related to the UK in this book. I would say it's best for 8-11 year old. Kids can learn about the four countries of the UK, how it looks like (Geography), how people buy there (currency), transportation, English special food and special English expression (SO FUN) and of course, about the royal family. The content is provided in small chunks so the kids enjoy reading it. It's a great way to learn about the UK while having fun.

My 7 year old daughter has 4 pen pals all in the United Kingdom. So while we are not traveling there, I picked this up so she could learn some things about where they are from. I was really impressed with the amount of information they have in this book written for kids. There are also quizzes and games your child can play after they learn about a part of the United Kingdom. It is not an all encompassing history and geography lesson for a higher grade level, but I think kids would enjoy it. It includes culture, foods, sports, Cities, Countries, and more included in the United Kingdom. I even has a fun check list of things to pack for your trip. I think I am actually going to pick up some of the other countries for her just because. I think these would be fun not only for a trip, bu also just to learn about other places and a good workbook to give your kids a boost in school. I try to find some fun way for my daughter to keep up the learning over the summer, and this is going to be perfect when we take a long road trip on vacation soon. The book itself is well made, the cover and binding are thick and I think it is going to hold up pretty well to the trip. i am not sure on what age group this would be best for, bu if your child can read at probably at least a 1st grade level, they should be able to figure out most of the words. These is a great travel guide for kids, this one in particular is the United Kingdom travel guide, has tons of information, pictures and drawings. It's made in an interactive manner so kids are engaged as they learn, this part is important because kids have fun and learn with it at the same time. I personally would had included a CD/DVD along with the book with quizzes, puzzles and other games to encourage the kids to use the book as a tool even after the vacations are over ( just a thought for the seller).These books are great at presenting the information in a fun and attractive way for the kids, they include many activities for kids to do using the information they have just learned.In my opinion these books are great as a travel guide, as a way to encourage your kids to read more and a beginners geography book too... These travel guides are very well made, with lots of information and one can see that a lot of thought, work and research was put into them. This book is ideally for children who are traveling to the UK, but I find this book more useful as an educational tool. It's not like the other books of the same series because it's a very general idea of the different countries that make up the United Kingdom.It gives you a manageable history of the four countries (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) as well as their capitals. It mentions that you use British Pound Sterling, but excludes the slang 'quid' that could be used (like Americans using 'buck').It continues on with mention of food there, including Fish and Chips, Sunday Roast, Scones, Haggis, and Soda Bread. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a mention of tea at all -- which is almost a vital part of British culture. It mentions superstitions, certain phrases and sports that were fun to read, but I wouldn't say is particularly UK-specific (like seeing a black cat, 7 years bad luck for breaking a mirror, and such).It really does try to have children interact with the information and quizzes them to (hopefully) have them absorb the content, but I still feel that it's more of an educational tool than it is a travel guide. If your child is just interested in learning about the UK, then this would be a great tool.*** I have received this item at a discounted rate for my honest, detailed review. ***
