About Our AuthorsSandra Rush is a best-selling author acclaimed for making mathematics easier to grasp. She has taught math and physics at both the secondary and college levels. As an undergraduate majoring in math at Temple University, Ms. Rush tutored students at Philadelphia public schools, which sparked her interest in teaching. Ms. Rush has written test-preparation guides for all ages, with her approach continually informed by her one-on-one tutoring and coaching.Julie O’Connell is an associate professor of English at Felician University, where, beginning in fall 2016, this book is being used as part of a Praxis Core review course led by Dr. O'Connell. Dr. O’Connell was chair of Developmental Studies at Felician from 2010 to 2013. From 2000 to 2010, she served as director of Felician's Writing Lab. She has also worked as a learning specialist at Rutgers University, as a corporate trainer, and as a high school English teacher.

I used this massive book to prepare for the PRAXIS Core. I read and studied it cover to cover -- over and over again. I thought the explanations in the math section were MUCH better than in the grammar/writing section. However, having just completed the PRAXIS Core, I would say that this book was lacking in some ways. It did not offer a lot of help in preparing for the writing prompts. Also, the math problems that I did as part of the books reviews and practice tests were not as similar to the test questions as I would have preferred -- not at all. This is the only study guide I purchased, so I cannot say that it is better or worse than the others but I would not turn to this company for test prepping again. (This free information on the ETS site might be more useful, honestly. The lists of topics covered there was much more thorough than this study guide.)
The math section in this book is fair. The writing section, however, is absolute garbage. There are multiple errors in the practice exams, which leads to a lot of confusion for the reader. Many of the sample questions are also ambiguous to the point of frustration. They also give zero context and expect you to guess what the question writer was thinking.
Great book to review the basics. Excellent explanations. Helped me pass the reading and writing exams but still struggling with the math section. Although the explanations are great, I guess I need more. Bought 3 other books for prep, this one still gives the best explanations even in the math section that I keep referring back to.
My daughter couldn't figure what she did wrong on the writing exam because she was scoring a perfect score for essay but bombing the other part. She reviewed this and passed her exam. Highly recommend.
Great book and website.I studied diligently for two weeks and passed all three praxis core tests in my first try. All above average scores.If you can't pass with this book, you shouldn't be a teacher.
Would reccomend this to any future teacher! The practice tests are extremely useful!
