About the Author

Connor Willumsen is a Montreal-based artist originally from Calgary, AB, where he received a design degree at The Alberta College of Art. He began making comics while attending the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Since then, he has drawn stories for Marvel, DC and Dynamite and illustrated the covers for Criterion editions of David Cronenberg’s Scanners and Stanley Kubrick’s The Killing. He has self-published a number of zines and comics and Breakdown Press published volumes one and two of his book Treasure Island in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

This one merits rereading... As a story, it recalls JG Ballard''s post apocalyptic work. Like Ballard, things that initially seem elliptic or obscure become achingly familiar as the book progresses. The art adds to the effect. The line work is spare, but Willumsen compliments it with grey tones to produce a fulsome, well realized environment for his characters. The characters themselves move with the subtlety I've come to expect from Willumsen. A lot of the acting comes through in body language. Altogether, this one stuck with me. Highly recommend.

The structure and story in this book are really refreshing. Connor’s art is incredible and this book has a great dreamy flow to it. The plot is really intriguing but also the weakest point of the comic (still really good). Definitely recommended.
