Don't get fooled by the title. This is really a great spiritual guide book better and less boring than Kempis. I agree with the Rav on almost everything but his concept of coming back over and over until we get it 100% right. How in a hell are we going to get it 100% right if we do not remember what we did wrong in a prior life?
I don't study Kabbalah, but I find this book extremely interesting. I thought it would be something very different from what it was, but I was pleasantly surprised. Basically, the author acts as if he is Satan while writing the book, so the perspective is like you're hearing it from Satan himself. It talks about how Satan works in your mind (ego) and he gives tips on how to overcome and beat him at his own game. Coming to the realization that the negativity in your mind is not yourself is very enlightening.
As a guilt-ridden Catholic-raised young woman who has dealt with shoddy self-esteem, at best, for most of my life, I found this book provided long-needed wisdom, guidance, and unexpected freedom. By no means do I intend to offend anyone who is Catholic or Christian, I am simply providing a generalized background so that others of similar background may recognize and relate to the ways this book may benefit them.I won't bore anyone with the details of my issues and how this book has helped resolve them. I will, however, say that it can be a tremendous tool for empowerment through self-accountability.
I have been in church or mowing the yard when inappropriate thoughts suddenly invade my space and won't go away. This book offers understanding why our best moral efforts are attacked. This explains how we can understand our concupiscence but yet find ourselves farther down the path than we ever intended. Satan has a more direct affect on our lives than we know. This book offered me a level of comfort by acknowledging what I suspected.
A good book, and arrived in great shape. The literature is very insightful. I had purchased this off of a friend's recommendation. Usually I find this author a little too self glorifying, very Hollywood Kabbalah whack job, with his books having odd but useful nuggets of wisdom. This book was much better than others I had read by either him or his father. It's a good read.
I'm not into Kabbalah, but a friend recommended this book for me to read since I like to read and have an open mind. I'm a Christian and found this book interesting and gave me a few things to think about in a different way. I'm not saying I agree with it 100%, but I found it interesting and recommend it for anyone wanting something interesting to read. I will definitely get the wheels turning in your head.
This is a great BASIC Kabbalah book that I think gives a good explanation of how kabbalah percieves Satan. If frustrated by the red horned devil image that some religions perpetuate, you won't get that here! This book gives a more down to earth practical view of Satan. It explains where evil comes from and helps us understand it's important role in our lives.
I loved this book, it is written in such a wonderful manner. I actually felt that I was listening to satan. And, this book actually explains satan in a way that I have always felt was true. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to read this book. Yehuda Berg, thank you so much for all of your books. I appreciate them so much.
